MCAA - Detective Jonathan Diller Class of 2014

The MCAA Detective Jonathan Diller, Class of 2014 Scholarship Award is offered to a regiment student pursuing a USCG license, with a 2.5 GPA or higher, who attends SST aboard the TSES VII.
Jonathan grew up on Long Island, NY, and entered Maritime in 2010. He studied Marine Transportation and eventually graduated in 2014 with a Third Mate’s License. He sailed aboard commercial vessels until his career with the NYPD began. During a routine traffic stop on the evening of March 25th, 2024, he was fired upon by the driver. Jonathan made the ultimate sacrifice, but not before attempting to disarm the shooter who was eventually subdued. He was a beloved son, husband, and father. He was a man of great integrity, respect, and decency. He is survived by his wife and son. This scholarship is meant to pay tribute to Jonathan and continue his legacy for years to come.
